Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon Broadcasts From the Hollywood Production Center
What a Labor Day weekend it was as The Hollywood Production Center and Tel-Air Interests, Inc. hosted the 37th annual Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon South Florida Edition. This live event was shot on the new sound stages in Hollywood and featured a phone bank with 60 volunteer operators. Local CBS and UPN anchors served as the local television hosts.
This year's telethon was produced by Karen D’Uva for the South Florida Muscular Dystrophy Association. The three camera shoot was directed by Aaron Silberman. Up linking services were provided by Televisual Concepts, Inc. John Hall was the lighting director and Spears Mallis served as Unit Co-ordinator.
For 24 hours the building was full with production personnel and dedicated volunteers as every inch of the facility was dedicated to the telethon. VIP’s areas greeted the South Florida Firefighters along with the telethon dignitaries. The canteen was the hub of activity as food was in abundance. Even Starbucks Coffee was represented as a traveling coffee cantina was located on property to help those stay awake for this television marathon.
Onsite features at The Hollywood Production Center include VIP offices and conference rooms. The MDA telethon used Studio A for the event. Studio A features a 31' x 60' sound stage with full lighting grid, Ikegami 45-HL cameras, a Grass Valley Switcher along with Cyron Maxine Graphics and a Sony Oxford mixing console.
