ARETHA FRANKLIN

Spirit In the Dark

The Queen of Soul was often in front of Tel-Air’s cameras during the 1960s and ’70s, when Atlantic Records—one of our major clients—was at its peak. At the time, our offices were based in Criteria Recording Studios, widely known as “Atlantic South” thanks to the steady stream of iconic artists recording there. It was common for our crews to film on-location segments for international music programs like Old Grey Whistle Test, Rockpalast, and Top of the Pops.
