John MacDonald

EIC

A seasoned video editor and post-production specialist, John MacDonald graduated with honors from the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale in 1989 with a degree in Music and Video Business. His career began in broadcast journalism, editing news and entertainment segments for Channel 7 News in Miami. By 1992, he transitioned to an online editing role at Paradise Video in Miami Beach, where he worked on high-profile projects for Discovery Channel, Lifetime Television, and a wide array of corporate productions, including trade show video walls and executive communications.

In 2000, he embraced the freelance world, expanding into technical support for post-production facilities as the industry shifted toward digital, nonlinear editing. He went on to serve as Chief Editor for Disney Planet, producing Spanish and Portuguese versions across three seasons.

Over the years, he has become a trusted technical advisor and post-production consultant for numerous Miami-based agencies and companies, including the Florida Panthers, 2C Media, Tropic Survival, Third Design Group, One Create, SapientNitro, Fuxion Media, and Publicis Groupe. His contributions span editing, color correction, system integration, and workflow optimization.

Notable projects include serving as segment and finishing editor on the James Patterson–produced children’s series Kid Stew, which earned multiple Emmy Awards. Additionally, he has collaborated with Fuxion Media on several Emmy-winning documentaries, overseeing color grading, editing, and conforming.

With decades of hands-on experience and a deep understanding of both creative and technical aspects of post-production, John continues to bring high-level expertise and storytelling finesse to every project he undertakes.
